What Should You Ask a VPS Provider Before Signing Up?
Five questions reveal almost everything you need to know about a VPS hosting provider in India.
"Where exactly is your data centre?" Acceptable answers: a specific Indian city with a TIER rating. Red flag: "South Asia" or "our servers are optimised for India".
"What is your actual uptime over the last 12 months?" Acceptable: documented uptime above 99.9% with records. Red flag: "We guarantee 99.9%!" with no historical data.
"Is storage NVMe or SATA SSD?" Accept only "NVMe". Do not accept "high-performance SSD" — it means SATA.
"Is RAM dedicated or burstable?" Accept only "dedicated" for business workloads.
"What is the renewal price?" Get it in writing. Introductory pricing that doubles on renewal is a common trap.
What Should Be Included Without Extra Charge?
Daily automated backups to a separate location, firewall management, OS security patching, 24/7 support access, and monitoring. These should be standard in any managed plan. If they are listed as add-ons with separate pricing, the base plan is not truly managed.
